Uncensored Playboy Coming To An Apple Device Near You

What Hugh Hefner wants Hugh Hefner gets, Apple be dammed! Playboy founder Hugh Hefner announced late last night that an uncensored version of Playboy will land on the iPad in March, despite protests from Apple and their no-nudity clause for all iOS apps.

"Big news! Playboy -- both old & new -- will be available on iPad beginning in March," Hefner tweeted. In follow-up tweets, Hefner said that the Playboy's complete catalog would be available on the iPad, and that the issues would be uncensored.

In an e-mail to CNET, Playboy confirmed that it's releasing a Web-based subscription service offered and ran by Bondi Digital Publishing that would give users access to every issue of Playboy past and present. This service would be compatible with the iPad and use some of the iPad's features. But the magazine added it's also planning to release a non-nude version of a Playboy-branded iPad app in the coming months that would adhere to all of Apple's policies and guidelines.

Playboy has not yet released any of the details nor has it revealed the pricing of the iPad-based access, or when in March the new service would launch. Currently, access to the online edition of Playboy costs $7.95 per month when billed annually, or $19.95 when billed monthly.

The Web service will be available to iPad (an other iOS device) users through the tablet's Safari browser.
