Hitachi Software Introduces WT-1 Interactive Wireless Tablet

Hitachi Software Engineering America, Ltd. today announced the introduction of the new StarBoard WT-1 Interactive Wireless Tablet, providing educational facilities and corporate environments with the latest in presentation technology. The new tablet comes equipped with an interactive pen with two customizable buttons, and will debut at InfoComm 2009. The new WT-1 tablet provides presenters with the ability to create interactive and dynamic presentations.



The WT-1 features a range of up to 30 feet by deploying RF technology, and has a battery life of up to 16 hours of continuous use. The tablet includes 16 shortcut function keys, handwriting recognition, search engine integration, and a built-in LCD indicator screen, alerting users of available battery life. Volume control from tablet to computer as well as the ability to advance PowerPoint slides with a function button provides the user with full control. The tablet’s pen also features two shortcut options. Additionally, presenters have the ability to connect up to seven WT-1 systems to a PC.

The compact, StarBoard WT-1 Wireless Tablet is just 10.9” H x 11.1” W x 0.8” D and weighs approximately one pound. The WT-1 tablet also features a writing resolution of 2000 Lpi.

The StarBoard family of products includes the StarBoard FXDUO series of interactive whiteboards and the StarBoard T-Series interactive panels with applications in lecture halls and training rooms. These products provide presenters and teachers with the ability to interact with the class, while manipulating the screen.

CHULA VISTA, Calif., April 13, 2009 — Hitachi Home Electronics Inc., Business Group has introduced the CP-X2010N 3LCD projector, adding networking functionality to its successful predecessor, the CP-X2010, The CP-X2010N offers a brightness of 2,200 lumens and a new 5,000-hour hybrid filter.

The CP-X2010N projector can be controlled and maintained through a LAN network connection, providing the ability to network, control and maintain the projectors remotely. The network functionality is capable of controlling multiple projectors in different rooms as well as monitoring for functions such as remaining lamp life.

The CP-X2010N projector is also the first Hitachi model to include AMX Device Discovery. When integrating a serial or IP device that supports AMX Device Discovery, all AMX NetLinx Integrated Central Controllers will recognize the device and systematically load the appropriate communications module or driver, initializing the new device for use. The NI Controller recognizes the device and loads the appropriate module either from a library on the Controller or from AMX’s website. Device Discovery also allows for device swapping so programming changes are not required when devices are removed or replaced.

Weighing only 8.8 pounds, the CP-X2010N 3LCD projector is easy to install and transport. The CP-X2010N features 16 Watts of built-in audio, eliminating the need for external speakers, while maintaining a low noise rating of 29 dBA in Whisper Mode. The CP-X2010N also boasts a high contrast ratio of 500:1.

The CP-X2010N features a long lamp life of 3,000 hours in Standard Mode and 6,000 hours in Eco Mode. The CP-X2010N also features Hitachi’s proprietary My Buttons functionality, allowing two buttons on the projector to be programmed to execute any projector command. Additionally, the CP-X2010N also offers input Source Naming, allowing users to rename input sources to fit their needs. Closed Captioning functionality is another feature of the CP-X2010N.

Furthermore, the CP-X2010N features a Transition Detector, requiring a password to operate the projector when it is moved from a fixed position. The CP-X2010N also offers PIN Lock and MyScreen functions, along with a security bar that enables the use of a heavy chain to prevent theft.

Hitachi Delivers New Power-efficient Enterprise Hard Drive

First Hitachi Ultrastar Drive to Feature 6Gb/s SAS Interface for Improved Performance and Configuration Flexibility

SAN JOSE, Calif. – March 24, 2009Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) today introduced its second-generation small form factor enterprise hard drive, the 10K RPM Ultrastar C10K300. The new Hitachi drive is optimized for the power and performance requirements of rack-mounted servers and networked storage arrays. Built using proven Hitachi power management technology, the Ultrastar C10K300 delivers the low power specifications that are of primary importance in today’s data centers. The new drives are offered in 147GB and 300GB capacities and ship with a dual-port 6Gb/s Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface, which delivers 100 percent faster data throughput than its 3Gb/s predecessor. The new industry-standard SAS interface also improves signal strength over greater physical distances, allowing IT managers to deploy larger, more complex storage infrastructures.

The Ultrastar C10K300 is designed to provide higher server/storage density through compact 2.5-inch design, a low-power profile and improved thermal characteristics. The small form factor drive occupies 70 percent less physical space and consumes up to 65 percent less power than similar 3.5-inch enterprise drives.

Advanced Power Management

The Ultrastar C10K300 is the company’s first enterprise-class drive to incorporate Advanced Power Management capabilities, which has previously allowed Hitachi to achieve best-in-class power efficiency on its popular Deskstar family of products. The technology provides IT managers with multiple power mode options so that performance requirements can be achieved using the lowest possible energy expenditure. The Advanced Power Management implementation in the Ultrastar C10K300 delivers a best-in-class idle power specification of 3.4 watts and 6.1 watts in active operating mode.

The drive has earned the Hitachi EcoTrac classification, used to describe products that minimize environmental impact in the areas of product design, manufacturing, operation and disposal.

SAS 6Gb/s Performance

Fast response time is critical for a wide range of enterprise applications, including online transaction processing, real-time business analytics and timely delivery of data-intensive content-on-demand such as multiple channels of streaming video. The increased transfer rate of the new SAS interface operating at 6Gb/s is ideal for meeting these challenges. The new serial interface is fully backward compatible with existing 3Gb/s devices to provide enterprise customers with exceptional configuration flexibility and investment protection.

The drives feature average seek times as low as 3.9 milliseconds and the fast rotational speeds reduce average latency time to 3 milliseconds, enabling customers to access data more quickly and efficiently.

Built for Reliability

The Ultrastar C10K300 is built on a mature design platform to ensure greater reliability and reduced qualification times. The drive includes a host of industrial-strength technologies designed to maximize reliability in mission-critical environments. Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) motors deliver a low acoustic rating and improved data integrity, while Rotational Vibration Safeguard (RVS) technology anticipates and counteracts disturbances that can occur in multi-drive configurations. In addition, the Ultrastar C10K300 uses Hitachi-patented head load/unload ramp to minimize integration induced drive damage.

Hitachi StarBoards Expand Curriculum Tools and Educational Content Through RM Easiteach Partnership

Hitachi integrates its FXDUO interactive whiteboard with RM Easiteach’s educational content and curriculum toolbars. Hitachi Software Engineering America, Ltd. today announced a partnership with RM Education in an effort to offer more curriculum tools and educational content for its StarBoard FXDUO interactive whiteboards.

RM Easiteach software is now being included free of charge with the purchase of any Hitachi FXDUO whiteboard. The purpose of this combination is to expand Hitachi’s existing library of educator resources with RM Easiteach’s signature toolbars for math, language arts, science, and social studies. The toolbars are designed by education experts to present familiar teaching concepts through the touch interaction provided by the StarBoard FXDUO interactive whiteboards.
