NVIDIA's "Major Announcement" Failed To Impress

Last week NVIDIA posted a teaser on their Facebook page asking "are you ready". The question raised eyebrows in anticipation that the company might be announcing the release of their new FERMI based GPUs. All weekend we waited and wondered, and finally the clock ticked down to the 9am pst time set for the announcement.

The announcement:

The wait is almost over! The world's most anticipated--and fastest--PC graphics gaming technology ever created will be unveiled at PAX 2010. Visit www.nvidia.com/paxeast for more information and to find out how you can compete to win a free trip to Boston!

Talk about a disappointment! NVIDIA fans will have to wait for PAX 2010 which is a whole month away to see the real announcement.

Adding an interesting twist to the story, online PC hardware store, SabrePC.com, has listed an XFX Geforce GTX 480 and the PNY Nvidia Geforce GTX 480 for pre-order. Both cards are listed at $699 with a $20 pre-order savings. SaberPC also has the XFX GTX 470 and PNY Geforce GTX 470 listed for $499.
