SEMA Best And Worst Of 2008

SEMA has always been synonymous with wild cars and crazy concepts, some of which are flat out amazing, others not so much. While the show may be over, it ran Nov 4th - Nov 7th, the coverage and the debate over what was cool and what wasn't lives on. Popular Mechanics has put together two lists that cover both ends of the spectrum.

Top 12 Coolest Cars at the 2008 SEMA Show
Personally I can't say I agree with all their choices here. The number one choice Thunderbird Elite just doesn't do it for me. I'm not big on old nostalgia and it reminds me of a stripped down version of the old Batmobile. A car that I think should have made the list was the Scorpion by Ronn Motors, now that is one hot car! Another car that I'd add to my top ten would be the Mercedes RENNTech Pikes Peak hybrid GLK. The car has some great lines and impressive specs.

The 10 Ugliest Cars in Las Vegas at SEMA 2008

The list might say "ugliest" cars but some of it is more about trends, like disturbing trend 3, displaying wheels cantilevered out of the wheel wells on metal stands. Mirrors use to be the old way of showing off the details of the wheel wells and undercarriage. But now it seems removing the rims and tires altogether is catching on. Ehh I'll agree with PM on this one, keep the rims on the car.

If drooling over cars isn't your thing then Jalopnik was nice enough to give us a great spread of the SEMA Booth Babes, if that doesn't fill your need for babes checkout the gallery at AutoBlog.
