24-inch LCD Monitor Prices Expected To Fall

According to DigiTimes several LCD monitor vendors in Taiwan are expected to lower the prices for 24-inch models in order to boost sales and make them a mainstream segment in the local market in 2009, according to market sources.

The report suggests vendors are going to reduce the prices of 24-inch LCD monitors to about NT$6,000 or $180.00 US in the first quarter of 2009, down from the current NT$8,000 ($240 US), and closer to the price level of NT$5,000 ($150 US) for 22-inch models.

That means with some luck and some good mail in rebate deals we might see a few 24" monitors priced at or around $130-$140. That would be nearly half price of current offerings from Newegg and Buy.com
